ELECTRIC SIX Monday 8th May – Barfly – 8pm £6 adv - £7 on the door
Danger! Dick Valentine, lead singer of Detroit’s finest oddball electro-punk rockers Electric Six arrives in Liverpool as part of his 18-day UK solo tour.
With the aid of only a guitar and a laser-powered drum loop, Dick will take you on a journey through space, time and the Electric Six back catalogue. So expect to hear the best-when-you’re-drunk classics “Danger! High Voltage!” and “Gay Bar” along with his stomping version of Queen’s “Radio Ga-Ga”.
With new album, “Switzerland”, pencilled in for a September release over the pond (unfortunately no news yet of when we can expect a UK release), there will also be a fair bit of new material on show. Keeping with the theme and according to the official E6 website, we should look out for everything becoming “a tad more Swiss”. If that’s the case, keep an eye out for neutrality, cuckoo clocks and Gruyere cheese mixed in with Electric Six’s trademark ironic humour, thumping riffs and falsetto vocals. All in all, expect Dick Valentine’s American Troubadour Tour to be a rollicking night out.
Matthew Taylor.
